The Beginning: Spring Equinox press release

The spring equinox is a natural event that occurs in March where the day and night are the same length, marking the emergence of spring. This natural sign is translated into various fields including fashion and lifestyle to mark the closeness of human life and nature, reflecting the relationship between nature and culture.

Ferdy Thaeras chose the spring equinox as the main theme of his solo exhibition this time entitled The Beginning: Spring Equinox. The Beginning (beginning) is a marker of the start of an incident. This beginning did not emerge from empty space but from events that preceded it. The Beginning: Spring Equinox, thus, tries to offer an image of a new beginning, which originates from various previous series of events, leading to a new spring celebration. Like winter and spring, their relationship is a continuity as well as a break. Through this exhibition, Ferdy Thaeras wants to capture the relationship between the two of them with works that are related, even though they are different. Spatial experience (space) became the entrance and brought him many memories of traveling in various cities of the world.

Through The Beginning: Spring Equinox Ferdy Thaeras elaborates on the spectrum of his artistic practice in the world of fashion, both as a model and fashion editor and in abstract art. His paintings are known as non-figurative works that use minimalist colors to explore spaces that are often left empty or full, complex relationships between personal and social contexts. In The Beginning: Spring Equinox, this complexity will be brought together with our reflections on spring, to stimulate a visual and textural sensibility.
